Volvo

Volvo is a Swedish manufacturer of automobiles, buses, as well as construction equipment. The company was officially founded in 1927, however it was established under another company in 1915. When people hear the word Volvo, they automatically picture a high quality engineered car with tons of safety standards put into place. In reality, Volvo is considered one of the safest manufacturer of cars that there is because they place an emphasis on making sure that their cars are a step above the rest, as well as being a car that is meant to last long.

Though Volvo is one of the most well-known brands around today, this was not the case during the first few years of the car manufacturers history. They sold only around 200 cars the first year that they were in production, however, people did take notice of the company. In the following year they more than doubled their production output. However, it wasn't until after World War II when the company became known outside of Sweden.

Volvo was all one big enterprise, until 1999 when Ford purchased the Volvo cars sector of the company. During this time in which the company was held by Ford, they made significant gains in popularity. However, Ford decided that they should sell the company. And in 2008 the company was sold to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a Chinese group. This acquisition of Volvo, was the largest Chinese acquisition in the history of China.

The safety features that Volvo has are still growing strong, and they have continued to have the strongest safety features when compared to other models of cars. Even with the more stricter government regulations of these vehicles, Volvo is still holding the top place among safety standards in vehicles. They have been the creators of many safety features such as the first company that utilized side air bags, which are a common feature that is implemented in many cars. One of the most unique safety features that Volvo has used in their cars is a way to make sure that the car was locked before getting in, it also a warning if it detects a heartbeat in the car so that you know whether or not someone may be hiding in the car. This is something that not any other car has implemented into their models, making Volvo completely unique. Some of the newest features that Volvo has implemented on their vehicles is the advanced technology that will automatically stop when the car senses some kind of obstruction in front of it when going below nineteen miles per hour.

Volvo has designed many hybrid vehicles, and also an electric car in which they debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, in order to compete with the other vehicles that are getting more and more fuel efficient. However, the electric concept car is not available yet, as more testing is being done on the vehicle to ensure that it is up to the standards of Volvo. .
