Lexus

Lexus is considered a very luxurious brand of car. However, most people are unaware that the Lexus is owned by Toyota, which makes the Lexus a Japanese automobile. In the United States, Lexus was first introduced in 1998, however, the first car to ever have the Lexus brand was in 1983. The idea of Lexus simply started off as an idea, no one could imagine that it would become as popular as it has become and offer its own line of sedans, convertibles and SUV's, plus account for a huge chunk of automobiles that are sold all over the world.

The Lexus cars are actually based off of Toyota cars. However, there are many additional features added to the Lexus to make it more luxurious. In fact, many of the parts that are manufactured for Lexus and Toyota are interchangeable, which makes sense since they are basically the same car. The Lexus cars may include such luxury items as having all leather seats, navigation systems in the dash, and above all else, the prestige that goes along with owning a Lexus.

During the first few generations of the automobile, they were fairly popular. However, the idea that many people had of the vehicle is that they could afford a Toyota much more easily than they could a Lexus, which did affect sales slightly. However, that all changed when the Lexus started coming out with concepts that were their own design. This increased sales on a global level. The most popular Lexus out there right now is their RX 300, which is a crossover SUV. There has been many models since the first RX 300, however, they all keep with the same basic design, which has proven to be a hit with consumers of all locations.

Though the Lexus is a Japanese automobile, it was not introduced into the Japanese market until 2005. The reason is that the car was viewed by many professionals as not having a relationship with the Japanese people who preferred smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles. Given the sheer size of many of the cities in Japan, the thought of driving one of the bigger SUV's that Lexus offers was outrageous. However, the car company started to offer more hybrid vehicles, and thus the market for Japan opened up. The same situation existed with the European market, and the company did not notice a surge in sales until they started offering hybrid cars. Now, the company toys with the idea of making the European market a hybrid only Lexus market offering.

Currently, Lexus is offering more fuel efficient and smaller vehicles, but they still have many full size and SUV's offered to the public. With the more stricter automobile laws being placed, Lexus still seems to stay ahead of the game with more evolved safety standards and whatnot. It is safe to say that Lexus will continue to be an automaker that dominates the market, even in times that the auto market may not be doing as well as people would hope.
