Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer that is mostly known for their presence in the racing world and developing some of the fastest performance cars out there. The company was first founded in 1906, however it was under a different name and under French leadership, it wasn't until 1910 that the Alfa Romeo brand was born and took its place in history as one of the makers of some of the fastest cars in the world.

Because of the war, in 1915 the factory was taken over and the manufacturer was forced to begin making military hardware for the Italian and Allied war efforts. The things that were produced during this time were things such as aircraft engines, compressors and generators that were all based on the Alfa Romeo engineering that they used in their vehicles. By 1919, the production of cars were started up again, however, this was not the first option that the company wanted. However, after acknowledging that they still had the parts and equipment to make their cars, it seemed like the best decision to make at the time, and it is one decision that has paid off in the future.

The performance of Alfa Romeo cars is something to write home about, once the second world war ended, the racing cars of Alfa Romeo were the ones to beat during the Grand Prix races. So much so that every other automaker out there were struggling to come up with a car that could perform as well as those of Alfa Romeo.

The sales of Alfa Romeo in the United States stopped in 1995, due to financial reasons. Which is not the first time that Alfa Romeo found themselves in financial hardships. However, the United States market wanted Alfa Romeo cars back in their world, thus there were many rumors that spread throughout the world stating that Alfa Romeo would be back in business soon. In all reality, 2008 was when Alfa Romeo came back to the United States market. The comeback was successful in regard to consumer acceptance of the cars, however, they still faced the same problems. The huge cost of exporting these cars to the United States was drastically cutting in on profits. Because of this, Alfa Romeo has been in talks with Chrysler. The idea is that Alfa Romeo can use the abandoned factories that Chrysler had to shut down due to financial hard times. However, at the time of these discussions most people were not hopeful of any favorable outcome.

Last year, Chrysler announced that they would be phasing out many of their Dodge and Jeep models. The idea is to remove some of these models in order to make room for new Alfa Romeo models that the company plans on making and distributing in the United States. For those that are huge fans of Alfa Romeo, this was amazing news. The new Alfa Romeo cars are set to be introduced in 2012 to the public.
